Explore your Library Subject Guide to find useful information and resources to support you throughout your studies and develop your research skills and digital capabilities - from the start of your course to your final project or dissertation.

Databases

Databases are search tools designed to help you explore scholarly literature such as journal articles and conference papers. Most databases allow you to sort, filter, save and export your results.

There are some useful interdisciplinary databases that have good coverage of Arts & Humanities, including English literature, language and linguistics, and drama.

Journals

You can find and search for articles in various ways.

If you're looking for a specific journal, you can search for it in StarPlus. If you'd like to search for journal papers on a particular topic, you can either search for articles in StarPlus or, for a more in-depth search, use one of the databases in your subject area.

Watch this short video to find out how to make the most of using StarPlus.

The Library also provides access to a large number of digitised journal ("periodical") archives from the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of these are available via ProQuest and Gale Primary Sources.
