Journals are published on a regular basis to showcase new scientific research. They contain articles (usually referred to as ‘papers’). There are different types of journal papers - for example research papers present the findings of new research, while review papers summarise or analyse the findings of multiple research papers.
You can find journals and search for articles in various ways.
If you’re looking for a specific journal, you can search for it in StarPlus. If you’d like to search for journal papers on a particular topic, you can either search for articles in StarPlus, or for a more in-depth search, use a database.
Databases are search tools designed to help you explore scholarly literature such as journal papers and conference papers. Most databases allow you to sort, filter, save and export your results. They’re particularly useful for undertaking a literature review for a dissertation or extended essay.
