Data sources

As part of your dissertation you may wish to cite or re-use existing published data sets. The links below highlight some useful sites for finding published data as well as guidance on working with your own data throughout your research project.

UK Open Data
Data published by central government, local authorities and public bodies.

UK Data Service
Provides access to data from the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS), Census Programme, Secure Data Service and international sources.

UK Data Archive
Over 5000 datasets relating to contemporary and historical society with data acquired from the academic, public, and commercial sectors.
Data Visualisation Hub
A joint initiative between The University Library, IT Services, and Research Software Engineering (RSE). This community website exists to provide research staff and students at the University of Sheffield with information and inspiration about the visual presentation of data.
